US–Iran set for talks in Oman on Friday as Trump says Tehran wants to avoid strikes

Talks between the United States and Iran are expected on Friday in Muscat, Oman, according to Iranian sources.
US President Donald Trump said negotiations are under way, adding that Iran wants to avoid further US airstrikes after what he called the “Midnight Hammer” operation.
Speaking in the Oval Office, Trump said Iran is “negotiating” and wants “something to be done”, warning it does not want a repeat of US military action.
Senior Iranian sources confirmed the venue, while saying the format and final arrangements are still being discussed.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi is expected to attend, alongside US envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
Key disputes include uranium enrichment limits, Iran’s ballistic missile programme, and its regional alliances.
Tehran says missiles are non-negotiable and is seeking firm US guarantees after Washington withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal.
