The Syrian army has entered the northeastern city of Qamishli, one of the last strongholds of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces. It's part of a ceasefire deal and an agreement that's meant to see the SDF integrate into the Syrian army. A large convoy of trucks was seen entering the city. A daytime curfew was declared, which authorities say is needed to 'maintain order during the transition.' Syrian government forces have established control over most of the country in the past few weeks.

Not only does Gaza’s border with Egypt need to fully open but so do all other “pathways for patients”, says Tarik Jasarevic, a spokesperson for the World Health Organization (WHO).

“We know the most time-efficient and cost-efficient referral pathways are through to the West Bank and East Jerusalem, where there are medical facilities ready to receive patients,” Jasarevic told Al Jazeera.

“We have been calling for the opening of all crossings throughout the war,” he added.

While thousands of patients in Gaza need security clearances from Israeli authorities to leave the enclave for treatment, countries around the world also need to step forward and accept wounded and ill Palestinians after more than two years of devastation, Jasarevic said.

“So far during the war, we evacuated more than 10,000 people, and the majority of these people went to Egypt and after that the United Arab Emirates, Turkey and some European countries. … What we really should be focused on now is to rebuild the health system inside Gaza so we don’t rely so much on evacuations.”

Whilst the company has completed remediation efforts and paid over $900m in total settlements and cleanup costs, residents report ongoing health issues including tumours and tremors. US special envoy Steve Witkoff is travelling to Israel to hold discussions on Gaza and Iran with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and military leaders, ahead of planned US-Iranian talks that Israel has opposed. Whilst regional actors have worked to facilitate diplomacy, Israeli political and public opinion overwhelmingly favours striking Iran and pursuing regime change, a position Netanyahu has advocated for decades. The consultations come as the US has significantly increased its military presence in the region under President Trump's "peace through strength" doctrine, and as senior Israeli officials have held Washington talks on potential targets and tactics should the administration choose military action over negotiation.

A convoy of 150 Syrian soldiers has entered the city of Hasaka in northeastern Syria as part of a phased transfer of internal security duties from the Kurdish-led SDF to state authorities. The deployment follows an agreement signed last week under which the SDF will hand over territory, government offices, and oil and gas fields it has controlled since Syria's civil war. Whilst the Syrian government pledges to guarantee civil and political rights for Kurds, many remain apprehensive about coming under Damascus's control, with some factions within the SDF opposing the deal. The transfer was coordinated with the Asayesh, the SDF's internal police force, and officials say further areas will transition to government control in the coming days.

It's the first day of the reopening of the Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt after nearly two years.
So far only five patients have been able to leave the Strip to receive medical treatment abroad.
Even with Israel's limited reopening of the crossing, the expectation was that 50 patients would be allowed to exit the strip each day.

The Syrian army has moved into the city of Hasakah, formerly under the control of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
It’s the first step in the implementation of an integration deal between the army and the SDF.
Hasakah is located in northeastern Syria and has long been a stronghold of the SDF.
A large convoy of trucks was seen entering the city hours after the SDF declared a curfew there.
Under the agreement, Syrian government forces are also expected to enter the cities of Kobani and Qamishli.
The Syrian army has established control over most of the country in the past few weeks.

The Rafah border crossing has finally reopened after months of closure as a result of Israel's devastating war on the Strip.
Hopes were running high that the freedom of movement would ease the dire humanitarian crisis created by this war.
But Israel has set strict conditions on who would leave the Strip and who would enter.
Now, only a small number people are allowed to move in both directions.
But much-needed humanitarian aid and construction material are still barred from entering the Strip, which is in ruins.
Will this reopening ease the suffering of Palestinians after two years of war?

The fight between Sudan's military and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) continues to escalate.
The army said on Friday, the RSF attacked el-Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan state,
Millions of people have been displaced in nearly three years of conflict.
Many have fled to displacement camps in al-Dabbah after the RSF seized control of North Darfur's capital city el-Fasher last October.
