Israel has rejected a UN Commission report that says its army deliberately targets Palestinian children. But there are cases of children being shot by precision weapons, making it difficult to argue they were accidents.
Al Jazeera’s @emmawithrow explains.
Prada is facing boycott calls after appointing Palestinian singer Saint Levant as a brand ambassador, with pro-Israel social media users angered over a necklace he's wearing in a campaign video that depicts historic Palestine. Al Jazeera’s Zeina Al Qawasmi explains.
Mehdi Hasan and former Pentagon official David Des Roches debate the air strikes by the US on schools and sports halls in Iran in the first days of the war.
Into the Darkness investigates allegations that torture is used systematically against Palestinians held in the Israeli prison system and military detention facilities.
Through powerful firsthand testimony, former detainees recount beatings, starvation, sexual violence, medical neglect and psychological abuse.
The film follows the stories of Mohammad Ibrahim, a Palestinian American arrested at the age of 15 for throwing stones, and a former detainee from Gaza whose harrowing testimony details extreme sexual violence. Their accounts reveal the human cost of a detention system that rights groups and former prisoners say operates with impunity.
Filmed across Gaza, the occupied West Bank, Tel Aviv, Florida and London, the documentary examines allegations that these practices are carried out under the authority of the Israeli military and Israeli officials, including National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.

The US-backed Board of Peace was established in January to lead the Gaza reconstruction efforts and oversee the US ceasefire agreement.
The 3-phase plan was endorsed by the UN Security Council.
It was meant to Israel's gradual withdrawal, and a Palestinian transitional administration installed.
But the reality tells a different story.

Efforts to contain an Ebola outbreak in Bunia, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, are being hampered by widespread mistrust and misinformation.
Community volunteers and local transport workers are helping authorities spread public health messages, while government billboards across the city urge residents to seek treatment early.
Some locals remain unconvinced the disease is real, and treatment centres have been attacked.
The DRC has experienced 17 Ebola outbreaks since 1976, with deep-rooted suspicion continuing to complicate each response.

The future of Hamas's weapons has emerged as a central sticking point in negotiations over Gaza's reconstruction and political future. Israel has made disarmament a condition for rebuilding, while Hamas argues its weapons are tied to an unresolved struggle against occupation. Palestinians remain divided on the issue, with some calling for weapons to fall under a legitimate governing authority and others insisting disarmament cannot precede an end to occupation. For many, the deeper question is whether any arrangement can deliver lasting stability and political rights.

An explosion inside a cafe in Damascus’s Hejaz district has caused casualties, according to Syrian state media. The cause of the blast is unclear and authorities are investigating.
More than 80% of Gaza's buildings have been destroyed since October 2023, leaving an estimated 68 million metric tonnes of rubble — the equivalent of 11 Great Pyramids of Giza.
Less than 0.5% has been cleared so far, and at the current pace the UN estimates full removal could take more than 140 years.
A UN-backed initiative is operating at five sites, processing debris into reusable construction material, but a shortage of heavy machinery and equipment is severely limiting progress.
Much of the machinery needed for clearance has itself been destroyed, and further recovery depends on Israel permitting equipment and materials into the territory.

Eighty percent of residents have returned to the southern Lebanese city of Tyre following months of Israeli bombardment, which struck the city 36 times and prompted repeated forced displacement orders. Among those rebuilding are cousins Roula Ibrahim and Mona Hweidy, civil engineers and business managers who now run a street vegetable stall metres from where an Israeli air strike destroyed their parents' flower shop of 30 years. Soaring rents — rising to five times pre-war levels — have made reopening a permanent premises impossible. The cousins say the south feels abandoned by the rest of Lebanon, but remain determined to support their families and community.

Al Jazeera's special coverage, "Gaza: Promises and Reality," examines the gap between commitments made under the US-brokered ceasefire and the reality Palestinians face on the ground in Gaza.
Over five days, the series explores how Israel's war on Gaza – which has killed more than 73,000 Palestinians, including at least 20,000 children – continues to reshape every aspect of life in the territory and its people.
Day five focuses on the state of reconstruction and Gaza's future.
The UN and World Bank estimate that more than $70bn will be needed over the next decade to help Gaza recover. Human development has been set back by 77 years, with life expectancy plummeting to just 40 years.
The US-backed Board of Peace, established to lead reconstruction and oversee the ceasefire, has failed to ensure Israeli compliance.
Israel has expanded its control to 60% of Gaza, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordering the military to push to 70%.
Aid remains severely restricted, with only a third of promised trucks entering Gaza daily.
The entire population is at extreme risk of famine, with nearly 400,000 people surviving on just one meal a day.
The debate over Hamas's weapons has become a central obstacle to progress. Political analyst Eyad Jouda said the talks in Cairo are "pointless and valueless" because Netanyahu is not willing to see any negotiation succeed.
Gaza is in ruins, with more than 80% of buildings destroyed – an estimated 68m metric tons of rubble. Only about 0.5% has been cleared so far, meaning clearing all of Gaza's rubble would take more than 140 years at the current pace.
For Palestinians in Gaza, survival remains the focus, while recovery and freedom increasingly feel like a distant dream.

Video captured the moment the Taal Volcano in the Philippines erupted, sending a column of ash and steam 1,200 metres into the air, triggering huge waves across its crater lake. The eruption lasted almost five minutes.
Russia has launched a large-scale missile and drone attack on Ukraine, targeting Kyiv, Dnipro and Poltava. At least 13 people have been killed and more than 90 injured. Residential buildings caught fire and others were heavily damaged. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia launched more than 70 missiles and more than 500 drone attacks overnight. Moscow says the attacks are in response to Ukrainian strikes deep inside Russian territory, targeting energy facilities, military sites and airports.
Al Jazeera's Audrey MacAlpine, reporting from Kyiv, said rescue efforts are ongoing at one of more than 20 sites hit in the capital, with children believed to be buried under rubble, including a 15-year-old girl. She said the attack began with drones just before midnight, followed by ballistic missiles. Zelenskyy is on his way back from Ireland and will attend the NATO summit in Ankara next week to plead for more Patriot air defence systems.
Al Jazeera's Yulia Shapovalova, reporting from Moscow, said Russia's defence ministry reported destroying 327 drones over 20 regions overnight. One person was killed in Belgorod, and in Nizhny Novgorod, Ukrainian drones targeted a Lukoil oil refinery, killing one and injuring four. She said Russia's oil refining has fallen to a multi-year low, with heavy fuel rationing imposed and long queues at petrol stations. Surveys show a large majority of Russians want the war to end.
Samir Puri, visiting lecturer in war studies at King's College London, said the war has settled into a worrying pattern of mutual long-range strikes. He said Ukraine has developed significant long-range strike capability, but Russia is retaliating rather than conceding, and both sides have the capability to keep striking each other.

China's robotaxi industry is expanding into more cities, raising fears among taxi drivers that automated vehicles could eventually replace their livelihoods. In Shenzhen, veteran driver Zhang Jingping, who has spent two decades behind the wheel, says earnings have already fallen sharply due to ride-hailing apps and now face fresh pressure from driverless competitors. Robotaxis are roughly 30 percent cheaper than traditional taxis, and commercial trials are growing. A system failure earlier this year left several robotaxis stranded in Wuhan, raising questions about the reliability of the technology.

A golf course in Venezuela's La Guaira state has been transformed into a military and humanitarian relief centre after the devastating earthquakes displaced millions of people.
International NGOs, working with the government, are providing emergency shelter, food and medical assistance, while aid agencies warn that disrupted medicine supplies and damaged healthcare facilities are creating serious health risks.
Humanitarian workers fear outbreaks of diarrhoea and other diseases because of overcrowding and poor sanitation, calling for portable toilets and better organisation of camps.
Hospitals across the affected region are operating beyond capacity after sustaining earthquake damage. Some survivors accuse the government of responding too slowly, saying meaningful assistance only arrived after international aid efforts began.
Medical volunteers also criticise the coordination of relief operations. As emergency assistance continues, many families remain homeless and face an uncertain recovery.
