OSTSEE: Timmy-Rettung wird Rennen gegen die Zeit

Wismar (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern) – Am Samstag ist der Wasserstand in der Bucht vor der Insel Poel sehr niedrig – und könnte sogar noch weiter zurückgehen. Möglicherweise erschwert das die für heute geplanten weiteren Schritte bei der Rettung des Buckelwals. Inzwischen wurden auch die Big Bags zu Timmy gebracht. Sie sollen eine Barriere bilden, die verhindert, dass der Wal weiter ins flache Wasser rutscht. Zudem sollen noch offene Fragen der Behörden geklärt werden, nachdem diese dem Rettungskonzept der privaten Hilfsinitiative am Freitagabend zunächst nicht zustimmten.

Es ist Tag 26 für den gestrandeten Wal in der Wismarer Bucht vor der Ostsee-Insel Poel. BILD-Reporter sind an der Ostsee und berichten von den Rettungsarbeiten.

Here's what we know. The USS Abraham Lincoln left San Diego back in November 2025. It's now one of the most critical assets in the US military's campaign against Iran — part of Operation Epic Fury — operating in the Arabian Sea. That's a long time at sea. And the last confirmed resupply of the Lincoln was March 18th, according to the Department of Defense's own image service. That was over a month ago. Meanwhile, mail to the crew has been suspended — packages sent by families in December still haven't arrived.

12 F/A-18 fighter jets. At least 7 aerial refueling tankers. A C-17 cargo aircraft. All arrived at Al Dhafra Air Base within days. In a region already on edge, that's not background noise. That's a message.

Al Dhafra sits south of Abu Dhabi — deep in the UAE desert — and it is one of the most strategically loaded air bases on Earth. It already hosts the U.S. Air Force's 380th Air Expeditionary Wing, French Rafale fighters, ISR platforms, and an array of coalition aircraft.

It's not a backup base. It's a first-strike-capable hub sitting roughly 200 miles from Iranian territory. Every aircraft that lands there moves the clock a little.

“Is Iran getting ready to strike the United States?” That’s the question exploding across headlines after a shocking new claim from Tehran. Iran now says it still hasn’t used a large portion of its missile arsenal… even after weeks of war with the U.S. and Israel. So what does that actually mean? And should anyone be worried?

A senior spokesperson from Iran’s Defense Ministry, Brigadier General Reza Talaei-Nik, made the claim during rising tensions in early April 2026. His message was blunt: Iran still has “a significant portion” of its missile power untouched.

This comes right after intense fighting between Iran, the U.S., and Israel—where missiles, drones, and airstrikes were exchanged across multiple fronts.

The conflict began in late February 2026, when the U.S. and Israel launched large-scale strikes on Iranian military and nuclear infrastructure. Iran responded with waves of ballistic missiles and drones targeting Israeli territory and U.S. regional bases.

For an external audience, there is an innovative online strategy that has consisted of AI Lego, memes and hip hop diss tracks directed at Donald Trump and the MAGA base. But this coexists with more brutal domestic tactics: crackdowns, arrests and internet blackouts.

The result has been the Iranian authorities making use of the internet for PR internationally, while simultaneously preventing the Iranian people from openly accessing the net themselves.

Wismar (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern) – Am Samstag ist der Wasserstand in der Bucht vor der Insel Poel sehr niedrig – und könnte sogar noch weiter zurückgehen. Möglicherweise erschwert das die für heute geplanten weiteren Schritte bei der Rettung des Buckelwals. Inzwischen wurden auch die Big Bags zu Timmy gebracht. Sie sollen eine Barriere bilden, die verhindert, dass der Wal weiter ins flache Wasser rutscht. Zudem sollen noch offene Fragen der Behörden geklärt werden, nachdem diese dem Rettungskonzept der privaten Hilfsinitiative am Freitagabend zunächst nicht zustimmten.

Es ist Tag 26 für den gestrandeten Wal in der Wismarer Bucht vor der Ostsee-Insel Poel. BILD-Reporter sind an der Ostsee und berichten von den Rettungsarbeiten.

On Friday, monitors picked up unusual activity from United States Strategic Command. The message was sent over the High Frequency Global Communications System— a global radio network designed to reach U.S. forces anywhere, anytime. Listeners on common frequencies like 8992 kHz heard a callsign… followed by a short, precise string of letters and numbers.

Total length? Just 21 characters. Short enough to stand out. Rare enough to raise eyebrows.

The Strait of Hormuz is now at the center of rising tensions as reports claim hundreds of ships are waiting for Iran’s IRGC Navy to allow passage.
Iranian media outlets Fars and Tasnim are claiming that for the first time in contemporary history complete authority over the Strait is in the hands of the IRGC Navy.
That is a significant claim because the Strait of Hormuz is one of the most vital oil transit chokepoints in the world. Nearly a fifth of global oil supply passes through this narrow stretch connecting the Persian Gulf to the open ocean. If movement here slows down or stops the impact is felt globally almost immediately.

And right now signals coming from the region are deeply conflicting. On one side Iranian reports suggest de facto control with ships waiting for clearance raising fears of a possible blockade scenario. On the other side the United States is issuing a strong warning.

North Korea is marking its military anniversary with a series of ballistic missile launches, demonstrating its growing military capabilities.

The tests come amid reports that the United States is redeploying military assets from the Korean Peninsula to the Middle East. While Washington denies moving key systems like THAAD, it has confirmed shifting other resources to respond to regional tensions involving Iran.

South Korea has condemned the launches as violations of United Nations resolutions. The International Atomic Energy Agency says there are signs North Korea is advancing its nuclear weapons programme.

Leader Kim Jong Un has overseen the latest drills, signalling defiance at a time of heightened global instability. In South Korea, public concern is rising over both North Korea’s actions and the potential reduction of US military presence.

President Lee Jae Myung has sought to reassure the public, saying South Korea’s military is fully capable of responding to any threat. The country continues to strengthen its own defence capabilities, including warships, drones and missile defence systems.

The shifting security landscape could accelerate plans for South Korea to take full wartime operational control of its forces from the United States, potentially ending a decades-long arrangement dating back to the Korean War.

The developments highlight growing uncertainty in the region as global tensions reshape military priorities.

As fuel costs rise, so do expenses across the industry. From bait to shipping, every part of the supply chain is affected. Early catches are modest, meaning fishermen must work harder to make up for the added cost.

Along the Chesapeake Bay, uncertainty is shaping the season. Business owners like Luke McFadden say diesel is essential for both boats and delivery trucks, leaving little room to adapt.

While support for President Donald Trump remains strong in the region, many are hoping for an end to the conflict to bring fuel prices down.
