In Chan Yunis wurde ein neunjähriger Junge beim Sammeln von Brennholz rund 400 Meter vor der Sicherheitslinie durch israelischen Beschuss tödlich getroffen, wie das Nasser-Krankenhaus mitteilte. Die israelische Armee rechtfertigte die Attacke in Gaza-Stadt als Schlag gegen "einen Terroristen". Zum Vorfall in Chan Yunis gab es bislang keine Stellungnahme.
Laut dem palästinensischen Gesundheitsministerium stieg die Zahl der Todesopfer seit Beginn der offiziell geltenden Waffenruhe im Oktober 2025 damit auf 818. Seit Oktober 2023 tötete Israel im Gazastreifen mindestens 72.594 Menschen.

Al Jazeera hosted a panel discussion on the US-Iran stalemate with two guests: Rob Geist Pinfold, Lecturer in International Security at King's College London, and Zohreh Kharazmi, Associate Professor at the Faculty of World Studies at the University of Tehran.
Rob Geist Pinfold argued that neither side wants a return to direct conflict.
The US is "feeling the pinch" with gas prices at a four-year high, while Iran needs time to regroup after military degradation. However, neither wants to be the first to compromise. He noted that the IRGC has consolidated its power, functioning as a "shadow state," and has incentives to prolong the conflict. Ordinary Iranians are paying the price, with the IMF forecasting Iran's economy will contract significantly. He cited up to 30,000 killed in recent protests over dire economic conditions.
Zohreh Kharazmi countered that Western media overestimates Iran's economic problems. She argued that 200 million barrels of floating oil have been sold, and Iran's new security paradigm in the Strait of Hormuz has broken sanctions structures. She dismissed reports of mass protests as "fabricated lies," accusing the West of inflating casualty numbers to "whitewash what Israelis did in Gaza." She insisted that decision-making is collective via the Supreme National Security Council, not dominated by the IRGC, and that millions of Iranians continue to show support for the Islamic Republic nightly.
Both agreed the IRGC does better in conflict, but disagreed sharply on whether ordinary Iranians support or suffer from that dynamic.

A digital rights organisation has found that Meta is allowing Israeli settler groups and anti-Palestinian influencers to monetise content on Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, despite violating the company's own rules.
Groups such as Hilltop Youth, which is sanctioned by the EU, UK, Australia and Canada for violent attacks on Palestinians, maintain monetised accounts on Meta's platforms.
Meanwhile, Meta has removed thousands of Palestinian accounts, including those of journalists documenting Israel's war on Gaza, and prohibits monetisation of any Palestinian accounts.
Rights groups say the disparity reflects systematic bias rather than a technical issue.

Wismar (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern) – Timmy ist auf dem Weg in die Freiheit! Der Schleppverband mit dem wochenlang an der Ostseeküste festsitzenden Buckelwal ist auf Richtung Nordsee unterwegs. Laut dem Schiffs-Ortungsdienst VesselFinder befand sich der Verband am frühen Morgen circa 6 Seemeilen (rund 11 Kilometer) südöstlich von Fehmarn.
Der Transport bewege sich mit „sehr langsamer Geschwindigkeit“ in Richtung der Insel, sagte ein Sprecher der begleitenden Wasserschutzpolizei. Nach Plänen einer privaten Rettungsinitiative soll der Wal in einer mehrtägigen Aktion um die Nordspitze Dänemarks herum durch das Skagerrak in die Nordsee gebracht und dann freigelassen werden.
Am Abend hatte der Schlepper „Robin Hood“ die Barge mit dem Wal am Ausgang der Kirchsee vor der Insel Poel übernommen. Anschließend fuhr er samt dem mit Wasser gefüllten Lastkahn in die Wismarbucht und weiter hinaus auf die offene Ostsee.
Dienstag, der 28.04.2026, 14:31 Uhr: Nach 28 Tagen in der Bucht vor Poel schwimmt Buckelwal Timmy selbstständig in sein Reisebett.

Berlin – Eine „1“, eine „9“ und eine „7“ und dann noch einmal neun Nullen – ergibt schwindelerregende 197 Milliarden Euro! Die Summe, die die Bundesregierung heute als neue Schulden beschließen möchte. Dabei sind allein 42,7 Milliarden Euro im Haushalt 2027 für Zinszahlungen vorgesehen. Sie fließen also nicht etwa in neue Krankenhäuser, Schulen oder Straßen – sondern werden benötigt, um Altschulden zu begleichen. Und der nächste Schulden-Hammer wartet bereits.
Das Bundeskabinett trifft sich am Vormittag (10 Uhr) in Berlin. Auf der Tagesordnung stehen der Bundeshaushalt 2027 und die grobe Finanzplanung bis 2030. Wie aus einem Entwurf von Finanzminister Lars Klingbeil (48, SPD) hervorgeht, sollen die Gesamtausgaben zunächst auf 543,3 Milliarden Euro im Jahr 2027 (2026: 524,5 Milliarden Euro) und dann sogar auf 625,1 Milliarden Euro im Jahr 2030 ansteigen. Nur ein Teil der geplanten Ausgaben ist durch die erwarteten Steuereinnahmen gedeckt. Für 2027 rechnet die Regierung von Bundeskanzler Friedrich Merz (70, CDU) sogar mit einem satten Minus von rund 197 Milliarden Euro.

Laut dem Schiffs-Ortungsdienst VesselFinder befand sich der Verband am frühen Morgen circa 6 Seemeilen (rund 11 Kilometer) südöstlich von Fehmarn.
Der Transport bewege sich mit „sehr langsamer Geschwindigkeit“ in Richtung der Insel, sagte ein Sprecher der begleitenden Wasserschutzpolizei. Nach Plänen einer privaten Rettungsinitiative soll der Wal in einer mehrtägigen Aktion um die Nordspitze Dänemarks herum durch das Skagerrak in die Nordsee gebracht und dann freigelassen werden.
Am Abend hatte der Schlepper „Robin Hood“ die Barge mit dem Wal am Ausgang der Kirchsee vor der Insel Poel übernommen. Anschließend fuhr er samt dem mit Wasser gefüllten Lastkahn in die Wismarbucht und weiter hinaus auf die offene Ostsee.
Dienstag, der 28.04.2026, 14:31 Uhr: Nach 28 Tagen in der Bucht vor Poel schwimmt Buckelwal Timmy selbstständig in sein Reisebett.
