The weapon's name is Dark Eagle. And if it goes — nothing in Iran's arsenal can stop it. The Long-Range Hypersonic Weapon — officially the LRHW, nicknamed Dark Eagle — is a ground-launched boost-glide system. Here's what that means in plain English.
A rocket booster fires it into the upper atmosphere. Then a glide vehicle — the Common Hypersonic Glide Body — detaches and essentially surfs the edge of space at over Mach 5. That's more than five times the speed of sound. At that velocity, it can travel roughly 1,700 miles — close to 2,800 kilometres — and it maneuvers as it goes, making its flight path almost impossible to predict.
There is no surface-to-air missile system on Earth that can reliably intercept something moving that fast, that unpredictably, at that altitude. That's the entire point.

The United Kingdom has become only the second country in the world to ban the sale of tobacco to anyone born on or after 1 January 2009, aiming to create what the government calls a "smoke free generation".
The legislation also introduces new powers to regulate vaping products, including restrictions on flavours and packaging to reduce their appeal to young people.
Official data shows that more than 78,000 people die from smoking related illnesses in England annually, with the habit costing society over $59 billion each year.
Health campaigners have welcomed the historic ban but say more support is needed for the 5 million people in the UK who currently smoke.

MORDFALL FABIAN (†8): Heute sagen die Eltern des ermordeten 8-Jährigen aus

Rostock (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern) – Ihren kleinen Fabian bekommt sie nie zurück. Der Achtjährige wurde im Oktober grausam ermordet, seine Leiche angezündet. Einer Mutter bleibt nur die Hoffnung, dass dieses Verbrechen aufgeklärt wird. Heute steht sie am Landgericht Rostock selbst im Zeugenstand, an ihrer Seite hat sie einen Notfallseelsorger. Auch Fabians Vater soll später aussagen.

Fabian verschwand im Oktober 2025 aus Güstrow (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern) und wurde vier Tage später tot aufgefunden – erstochen und verbrannt. Angeklagt ist Gina H. (30), die Ex-Freundin seines Vaters. Die Staatsanwaltschaft ist überzeugt, dass sie, nachdem der Vater mit ihr Schluss machte, das Kind aus Eifersucht tötete, um die Beziehung zu retten. Am ersten Prozesstag verlas die Anklage die Vorwürfe. Heute stehen erstmals die Aussagen der Eltern im Mittelpunkt.

The head of the UN's nuclear watchdog, Rafael Grossi, says much of Iran's uranium stockpile is likely still buried beneath the rubble of a facility bombed by the United States last year.
Speaking at the UN's Nuclear Non-Proliferation Conference, Grossi told Al Jazeera that until IAEA inspectors can verify the site, "we cannot confirm that this is the situation."
He added that the material is "close to weapon grade" and that there is "difficulty in accessing" the area. Iran's ambassador to the UN accused the United States of using the conference to distract from its own treaty violations. With ongoing war on Iran and global tensions, expectations for any international agreement from the conference remain low.

Der Schleppverband mit dem wochenlang an der Ostseeküste festsitzenden Buckelwal Timmy ist auf dem Weg Richtung Nordsee. Laut dem Schiffsortungsdienst VesselFinder befand sich der Verband am frühen Morgen circa 6 Seemeilen (rund 11 Kilometer) südöstlich von Fehmarn.

Der Transport bewege sich mit „sehr langsamer Geschwindigkeit“ in Richtung der Insel, sagte ein Sprecher der begleitenden Wasserschutzpolizei. Nach Plänen einer privaten Rettungsinitiative soll der Wal in einer mehrtägigen Aktion um die Nordspitze Dänemarks herum durch das Skagerrak in die Nordsee gebracht und dann freigelassen werden.

Am Abend übernahm der Schlepper „Robin Hood“ die Barge mit dem Wal am Ausgang der Kirchsee vor der Insel Poel. Anschließend fuhr er samt dem mit Wasser gefüllten Lastkahn in die Wismarbucht und weiter hinaus auf die offene Ostsee.
