Lebanon's Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri has condemned Israel's ongoing occupation of Lebanese land and rejected the so-called Israeli "yellow line" buffer zone, raising fears of a long-term occupation similar to Gaza. In southern Lebanon, the Israeli military's map shows a zone several kilometres deep where it wants to be free of Hezbollah, with Israel asserting control by fire and levelling villages where Shia Muslims live, declaring at least 50 towns no-go zones — unlike during Israel's 18-year occupation that ended in 2000, people are not being allowed back. Hezbollah is relying on guerrilla tactics — near daily attacks and ambushes — to break any military boundary Israel tries to impose.
By Israel's own admission, Hezbollah is still south of the yellow line, meaning this is contested territory.

Die Bundesregierung hat am 22. April 2026 beschlossen, dass Netzanbieter IP-Adressen auch ohne konkreten Anfangsverdacht drei Monate lang speichern müssen. Die aktuelle Gesetzesvorlage ist eine entschärfte Version der früher geplanten Vorratsdatenspeicherung.

Am vergangenen Wochenende ist ein Foto eines IDF-Soldaten viral gegangen, das ihn dabei zeigt, wie er ein Jesuskreuz im Libanon schändet. In den sozialen Medien breitete sich daraufhin schnell Empörung aus.
Die christlichen Gemeinden Libanons bangen derweil um ihre Existenz und befürchten das Schlimmste.
Ein prominentes Mitglied der südlibanesischen Dorfgemeinde Ain Ebel hat sich unter Wahrung seiner Anonymität unter anderem zur Schändung des Kreuzes geäußert. "Ich kenne das Wesen dieses kriminellen Staates, aber dieses Bild hat uns überrascht, genauso wie es die Menschheit überrascht hat", erklärte er. "Sie haben bereits damit begonnen, im Süden unseres Landes ein weiteres Gaza zu schaffen", warnte der arabische Christ.
Die weltweite Empörung über diese Schändung war so groß, dass die IDF das beschädigte Jesuskreuz eiligst ersetzte. Von offizieller israelischer Stelle hieß es, dass man den Vorfall bedauere und die verantwortlichen Soldaten für 30 Tage in Militärhaft genommen habe.

Berlin – Die Deutsche Marine bereitet sich laut Verteidigungsminister Boris Pistorius (66, SPD) auf einen Einsatz in der Straße von Hormus vor! „Wir planen das. Wir spielen das durch – auch mit Blick auf mögliche Partner und wie kann sich eine solche Operation zusammensetzen“, sagte Pistorius in der ARD-Sendung „Bericht aus Berlin“. Er würde seinen Job als Verteidigungsminister nicht richtig machen, wenn man nicht längst konkret in diese Planungen eingestiegen wäre.
Man befinde sich aber noch im Planungsstadium, betonte Pistorius. Voraussetzung für einen solchen Einsatz wären auch zunächst ein anhaltender Waffenstillstand in der Region, ein völkerrechtliches Dach und ein Mandat des Deutschen Bundestags. „Da sind wir ja noch lange nicht.“

Die Bauarbeiten des ersten Blocks des türkischen Atomkraftwerks "Akkuyu", das von "Rosatom" errichtet wird, sind zu etwa 99 Prozent abgeschlossen – die Arbeiten zur Inbetriebnahme zu 65 Prozent. Das berichtet der Chef des russischen Staatskonzerns Alexei Lichatschow.
Lichatschow erklärte, dass sich das Kraftwerk kurz vor der Fertigstellung befinde. Es ist geplant, dass die Türkei bereits in diesem Jahr den ersten Strom aus diesem Atomkraftwerk beziehen wird.
US-Präsident Donald Trump hat am Dienstag eine einseitige Verlängerung des Waffenstillstands mit Iran angekündigt. Er entsprach damit einer Bitte des pakistanischen Premierministers Shehbaz Sharif, der weiterhin als Vermittler fungiert.
Trump begründete den Schritt damit, dass Teheran bislang keinen "einheitlichen Vorschlag" für eine dauerhafte Friedenslösung vorgelegt habe. Eine offizielle Reaktion Irans steht noch aus.
Unterdessen veröffentlichte das US-Zentralkommando (CENTCOM) Aufnahmen seiner Streitkräfte in der Region, um die anhaltende Kampfbereitschaft zu demonstrieren.

This comes as U.S. President Donald Trump unexpectedly extends the ceasefire, claiming Iran is internally divided. But on the ground, the reality looks very different. Massive rallies across Iran for over 50 nights show strong public support for the government, even amid war and economic hardship.
Iran has outright rejected the U.S. proposal, insisting the war will end only on its own terms—demanding reparations, security guarantees, and control over the Strait of Hormuz.
