The Lebanese and Israeli ambassadors to the United States arrived at the State Department in Washington for their countries’ first direct talks in decades. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is hosting the discussions.

Der ukrainische Präsident Wladimir Selenskij ist am Dienstag von Bundeskanzler Friedrich Merz in Berlin empfangen worden. Vor dem Hintergrund des Krieges gegen Iran waren die von den USA geführten Bemühungen zur Beendigung des Ukraine-Krieges zuletzt ins Stocken geraten. Merz gab wörtlich zu Protokoll: "Russland sollte diesen Krieg so schnell wie möglich beenden – Russland hat keine Chance ihn zu gewinnen."
Zur Sprache kam auch der von der EU an Kiew zugesagte Kredit in Höhe von 90 Milliarden Euro. Dieser wurde bislang von Ungarn blockiert – doch nach Orbáns Wahlniederlage könnten die Mittel nun freigegeben werden.
Zudem unterzeichneten Deutschland und die Ukraine am Dienstag eine Vereinbarung zu stärkeren militärischen Zusammenarbeit beider Länder – die auch eine gemeinsame Produktion von Drohnen zum Ziel hat.
Der Generalsekretär der Hisbollah, Naim Kassim, verkündete am Montag in einer per TV verbreiteten Nachricht, dass die Hisbollah sich nicht an Verhandlungen mit dem Aggressor beteiligen werde und den Weg des Widerstands gewählt habe.
"Wir werden bis zum letzten Atemzug kämpfen", heißt es in der Botschaft, die über den der Hisbollah nahestehenden Fernsehsender Manar TV ausgestrahlt wurde. Direkte Verhandlungen mit dem Aggressor, der "keinerlei Rücksicht auf humanitäre oder ethische Grundsätze" nehme, seien sinnlos und erforderten einen innenpolitischen Konsens der libanesischen Gesellschaft, den es nicht gebe, so Kassim.
Bei der Aggression durch Israel und die USA handele es sich "in Wirklichkeit um eine Besatzung im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes", die nur eines zum Ziel habe – "den Weg für ein Großisrael zu ebnen."

Am 14. April 2026 war der AfD-Co-Vorsitzende Tino Chrupalla im ZDF-Morgenmagazin zu Gast. Mit Blick auf die steigenden Energiekosten forderte er dort neben der Abschaffung der CO₂-Steuer, die "außenpolitische Agenda der Bundesregierung zu überprüfen".
Er plädierte dafür, die "schädlichen Wirtschaftssanktionen gegenüber Russland" aufzuheben. Die Nord-Stream-Pipelines müssten so schnell wie möglich repariert und geöffnet werden, um "günstiges Gas aus Russland zu bekommen". Als Moderator Andreas Wunn die Frage stellte, ob ein Land, "das ein anderes europäisches Land überfallen und angegriffen hat", ein verlässlicher Partner in der Energiepolitik sein könne, verwies Chrupalla auf die USA und Israel. Diese hätten schließlich ebenfalls "ein anderes Land überfallen und angegriffen" und seien dennoch Partner Deutschlands.
Wunn wies den Vergleich unmittelbar zurück: "Herr Chrupalla, das kann ja kein Argument sein!"
Chrupalla hielt dagegen und betonte die wirtschaftlichen Folgen einer moralisch begründeten Energiepolitik: "Wenn wir über Moral reden, kann man gerne sagen, als Industrieland Deutschland: 'Wir kaufen von den Ländern, die völkerrechtswidrige Kriege angefangen und initiiert haben, kein Gas mehr.' Dann wird's aber langsam dunkel in Deutschland!"
Auf der Pressekonferenz der AfD-Fraktion im Bundestag vom 14. April 2026 hat sich die AfD-Co-Vorsitzende Alice Weidel zur Wahlniederlage des ungarischen Premierministers Viktor Orbán geäußert.

Ein 18-Jähriger ist am Dienstag in seiner ehemaligen Schule in der südtürkischen Stadt Siverek mit einer Schusswaffe Amok gelaufen.
Bevor er festgenommen werden konnte, beging der Todesschütze den Behörden zufolge Selbstmord. Laut dem türkischen Innenministerium wurden bei dem Angriff mindestens 16 Personen verwundet – darunter zehn Schüler, vier Lehrer, ein Kantinenmitarbeiter und ein Polizist.
Der Angreifer sei nicht vorbestraft gewesen und die Schule sei zuvor von der Polizei als sicher eingestuft worden. Ersten Ermittlungen nach soll der Schütze willkürlich geschossen haben.
In der chinesischen Metropole Shenzhen ist in einem Parkhaus auf dem Gelände des Elektroautobauers BYD ein Großbrand ausgebrochen. Videos in sozialen Netzwerken zeigen dichte Rauchwolken und Flammen, die aus dem Gebäude aufstiegen.
Nach Angaben des Konzerns und laut Medienberichten wurden die Flammen schnell unter Kontrolle gebracht – Verletzte habe es nicht gegeben. BYD erklärte, dass die Produktion und der laufende Betrieb durch den Brand nicht beeinträchtigt worden seien. Dennoch dürfte der Vorfall erneut Diskussionen über Sicherheit und Risiken im Zusammenhang mit Elektrofahrzeugen anstoßen.
