Iran says it welcomes the announcement of the ceasefire in Lebanon. Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman says the pause in fighting is part of the US-Iran ceasefire agreement, mediated by Pakistan. And is stressing the need for a full Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon.

Meanwhile, a Pakistani delegation is in Tehran to relay messages from Washington in the latest effort to bring the US and Israel's war on Iran to a permanent end.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Israel will continue to occupy Lebanese territory—despite the ceasefire announcement—but he has agreed to a pause in Israeli attacks in Lebanon.

Barbara Slavin, a Distinguished Fellow at the Stimson Center in Washington, DC, says the truce could improve the atmosphere for diplomacy but is “necessary, not sufficient” for a breakthrough. Key disputes remain over uranium enrichment, sanctions relief, and the future of Iran’s nuclear capabilities.

Meanwhile, Abbas Aslani, a Senior Research Fellow at the Center for Middle East Strategic Studies in Tehran, says shifting demands from Washington and internal pressures in Iran are complicating negotiations. While some progress has been made, both sides remain far apart on critical issues.
