The Lebanese government says Israeli strikes on Sunday killed 14 people, including two children, despite a US-brokered ceasefire, as Hezbollah said it attacked Israeli troops on the outskirts of Kafr Kila and in Taybeh in the south.

Hezbollah has increased the tempo of its operations and is "hurting Israeli troops in that occupation zone," while continuing to launch drones and rockets across the border into northern Israel, putting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "in a difficult position."
On the Lebanese government's direct talks with Israel, the government is "negotiating under fire," causing internal tensions, with Hezbollah arguing that what is being agreed in those negotiations is the disarmament of the group — "what the Israeli military failed to do."

Despite on-again, off-again negotiations, the United States has no other option but to pursue a diplomatic solution with Iran, argues Vali Nasr, professor of international affairs and Middle East studies at Johns Hopkins University.
Nasr tells host Steve Clemons that the US-Israel war on Iran has shown the limits of military force.
“You don't go to the table to demand surrender. The other side is not going to surrender because they haven't lost. So you have to cut a deal,” Nasr said, adding that Iran’s objective is to make sure the US and Israel understand that “war with Iran isn't easy”.

In Ramallah, the Central Election Commission has held a news conference on the results of Saturday's election in the occupied West Bank and in one area of Gaza.
The commission says turnout was significantly lower than average, especially in Gaza's Deir el-Balah, where it was the lowest across the electoral map.
The municipal vote was the first in any part of Gaza in more than two decades.
