Thirty-four tankers. One blockade. And a strategy now under scrutiny. Despite an aggressive naval crackdown by the United States Navy, Iran-linked oil shipments are still getting through—raising serious questions about enforcement in the Strait of Hormuz.

Data cited by the Financial Times reveals at least 34 vessels connected to Iran have crossed blockade lines, many carrying crude oil. Of these, 19 exited the Persian Gulf, including 17 fully loaded tankers—evidence that exports continue despite pressure.

Experts say Iran has built a resilient sanctions-evasion network using shadow fleets, ship-to-ship transfers, and AIS shutdown tactics. According to Vortexa, nearly 82% of Iran-China shipments involve such covert operations, often near Malaysia or Fujairah.

Lebanon's Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri has condemned Israel's ongoing occupation of Lebanese land and rejected the so-called Israeli "yellow line" buffer zone, raising fears of a long-term occupation similar to Gaza. In southern Lebanon, the Israeli military's map shows a zone several kilometres deep where it wants to be free of Hezbollah, with Israel asserting control by fire and levelling villages where Shia Muslims live, declaring at least 50 towns no-go zones — unlike during Israel's 18-year occupation that ended in 2000, people are not being allowed back. Hezbollah is relying on guerrilla tactics — near daily attacks and ambushes — to break any military boundary Israel tries to impose.
By Israel's own admission, Hezbollah is still south of the yellow line, meaning this is contested territory.

Pistorius über Straße von Hormus: Bundesverteidigungsminister findet klare Worte

Berlin – Die Deutsche Marine bereitet sich laut Verteidigungsminister Boris Pistorius (66, SPD) auf einen Einsatz in der Straße von Hormus vor! „Wir planen das. Wir spielen das durch – auch mit Blick auf mögliche Partner und wie kann sich eine solche Operation zusammensetzen“, sagte Pistorius in der ARD-Sendung „Bericht aus Berlin“. Er würde seinen Job als Verteidigungsminister nicht richtig machen, wenn man nicht längst konkret in diese Planungen eingestiegen wäre.

Man befinde sich aber noch im Planungsstadium, betonte Pistorius. Voraussetzung für einen solchen Einsatz wären auch zunächst ein anhaltender Waffenstillstand in der Region, ein völkerrechtliches Dach und ein Mandat des Deutschen Bundestags. „Da sind wir ja noch lange nicht.“

Two ships have been attacked in the Strait of Hormuz, escalating tensions in a key global shipping route.
The UK Maritime Trade Operations says one vessel was targeted off the coast of Iran.
Another container ship, reportedly the MSC Francesca, was fired upon northeast of Oman, sustaining heavy damage.
Iranian media claims the attack followed the vessel’s failure to heed warnings, describing it as enforcement of maritime rules.
The situation in the strait remains highly volatile, with both Iranian and United States forces affecting navigation.
Gulf states are calling for de-escalation and the reopening of the vital shipping lane.
Mediation efforts, including those led by Pakistan, aim to bring both sides back to negotiations.
