Gleichzeitig droht Iran mit massiven Vergeltungsschlägen, insbesondere gegen Energieinfrastruktur in den Golfstaaten, sollte es zu einem Angriff kommen. Eine solche Eskalation könnte den globalen Ölmarkt schwer erschüttern und eine weltweite Wirtschaftskrise auslösen.

Auch die wirtschaftlichen Kosten für die USA sind enorm. Experten schätzen, dass ein längerer Konflikt bis zu 1 Billion Dollar kosten könnte. Bereits in den ersten Tagen wurden Milliardenbeträge ausgegeben, während langfristige Folgen wie Veteranenversorgung und steigende Staatsverschuldung zusätzlichen Druck erzeugen.

Militärisch bleibt die Lage hochriskant. Iran setzt auf asymmetrische Kriegsführung mit Drohnen und Raketen, während die USA auf technologische Überlegenheit bauen. Gleichzeitig erhöhen Zwischenfälle, wie der Abschuss eigener Flugzeuge durch Verbündete, das Eskalationsrisiko.

Die internationale Gemeinschaft blickt nun gespannt auf den Ablauf der Waffenruhe. Sollte keine diplomatische Lösung gefunden werden, droht ein umfassender Konflikt mit weitreichenden geopolitischen und wirtschaftlichen Folgen.

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam says he “welcomes” Trump’s announcement of a 10-day ceasefire with Israel.

“As I congratulate all Lebanese on this achievement, I pray for mercy upon the martyrs who have fallen, and I affirm my solidarity with their families,” he said, thanking a number of European and Arab states for their “efforts” to reach a ceasefire.

Today we're pulling apart one of the most viral geopolitical clips of the year — because when you slow it down, the story gets way more interesting than the headline.
So here's what happened. A man named Victor Gao — a Chinese international relations expert and former government interpreter — sat down for a panel interview with journalist Sharmine Narwani on a platform called The Cradle.

On Thursday, Brigadier General Alireza Sheikh — Iran's deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces — sat down for a televised interview. And what he said was striking. He stated that in the seven months following the June 2025 war, Iran managed to increase its attack drone production rate by a factor of ten.

Vor morgen geht es nicht zu Timmy, sagte Babbel. Die Vorbereitungen laufen aber weiter auf Hochtouren. Timmy ist mit Tüchern bedeckt, die ihn feucht halten. Das Rettungsequipment ist zum Teil schon im Wasser.

Powerful explosions have rocked one of only two working oil refineries in Australia.
Firefighters in the state of Victoria said flames of up to 60 metres broke out on Wednesday night and was finally brought under control on Thursday.
The energy minister says the blaze will have a major impact on petrol production.
Australia had already raised concerns about dwindling fuel supplies because of disruptions to oil exports via the Strait of Hormuz.
Separately, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says Australia has secured an additional supply of 100 million litres of diesel from Brunei and South Korea, to boost the country's precarious reserves amid the Iran war.

Kevin Morrison is an Energy Finance Analyst at the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis.
He says the fire may have occurred because the plant was operating at full capacity.

Afghanistan is clearing rubble and counting its dead after weeks of landslides and flash flooding killed nearly 160 people and injured hundreds more. The Taliban government says over 73,000 people have been displaced, with around 9,000 homes destroyed. The United Nations warns there is still a shortage of aid and shelter for survivors. Among the victims are seven members of one family in Nangarhar province, whose home collapsed during the disaster.
